The majority of our patients complain of neck and back problems. This can be due to a specific injury, poor postural habits, or wear and tear over a period of time. To function optimally, your body needs to move and maintain its correct alignment. If, over time, your daily activities take place with a poor posture, injuries and strains to your joints, muscles and ligaments will persist, eventually creating pain and muscle spasm. Furthermore, pains in the neck can arise from events currently happening in your life. Fear, stress and weariness commonly manifest in this area over almost any other part of the body. The earlier a diagnosis is made, the sooner the correct treatment can begin and the quicker your recovery will be.
Whatever the problem, we will get to the root cause and use our clinical skills to treat the appropriate joints, muscles, nerves, ligaments or discs. We know that successful rehabilitation depends on a combination of good physiotherapy input, post-treatment support and preparation in returning you to the demands of everyday life. Our approach is to get you better and help make sure you stay that way so that you can carry out your daily activities smoothly and without pain.
There are many treatment options for us to choose from. We employ a number of modalities in order to achieve maximum results in the least time possible. Pain is unique to the individual. Therefore the type of treatment techniques we use will vary from person to person depending upon his or her individual signs and symptoms, and tissue tolerance level. Each person responds differently to treatment. How your body responds to treatment will determine what we do from session to session. Your treatment sessions will be progressive and tailor made to suit you. If clinically indicated, we will use a combination of acupuncture, joint movement and manual therapy (hands-on massage, mobilisation or manipulation) to maximise results. Rest assured, we will monitor your progress and will not perform any unnecessary treatment. Every aspect of your recovery process will be discussed with you personally.
Your treatment will usually be combined with postural advice and a progressive exercise programme for you to carry out in between appointments and after you leave our care. Keeping up with your self-care exercises will help you get better sooner, enhance the treatment you receive during your follow-up appointments, and prevent the recurrence of the problem.
